Why you have to Jailbreak your iPhone?

Why you have to Jailbreak your iPhone?

Jailbreaking your iPhone is now legal, so what?

I am not like the other persons you see in some forums or sites pretending to be very good hackers as if they are the members of the ‘dev-team’ or ‘musclenerd’ himself. I am no hacker nor very good in programming scripts, but I can understand the tutorials they post in their website. Jailbreaking isn’t that technically challenging when you know how to read and follow instructions. Many iPhone users thought they are maximizing the use of their iPhone only to find out they are using it as a normal phone.

CUSTOMIZE YOUR SMS TONE
I remember the early iPhone 3g days when a group of Engineers asked me why I ‘jailbreak’ my iPhone since an app costs a dollar or two in the app store. I simply smiled and send them a broadcast message. After a while, I heard a vibration or ‘tri-tone’ sms tone. I told them to reply back and they heard a customized SMS tone.

CUSTOMIZE YOUR UI
I like the in-built iPhone icons. But years of using the iPhone with the same icon makes me feel like wearing the same shirt for 1 year.

CYDGETS
One of my fave ‘widget’ for ‘Jailbroken’ phones. It allow developers and web designers to take control of the lock screen. Developers can make use of Cydget and creates interesting widgets by using either native code or HTML with javascript. In simple words, you can put Facebook live feeds into your lockscreen to name a few.

SOME APPS NOT AVAILABLE IN APP STORE
One of them is OpenSSH! Non-technical people may not appreciate this App, (but again, I am not a very technical guy) but it is a must-have for anyone who is running a website especially on a Linux environment. It is often good to have a secure remote access to our web servers, in case I need to alter something. Also, OpenSSH is needed if you want to do some advanced hacking and gain access to your iPhone.

These are the most basic reasons why I jailbreak my iphone, and some of it (maybe) why the US copyright office legalize jailbreaking it. It is not always because of the ‘cracked apps’ why you have to jailbreak, but a complete control over the phone.
But a simple advice to my kababayans before JB’king your iPhone in the PI, or maybe even before buying an iPhone, ensure that you have a wifi connection or data usage bundled in your plan to maximize the power of this smartphone. Unless you bought it to show off, the iPhone is the same as a $50 phone wherein you can call and SMS.
